 Measurement Room

In March 2002 Ketlon introduced the first measurment room. The room contains vital production data and key information from all departments. The management and production teams use this information to respond quickly to arising issues amd to continually assess ongoing actions.

The measurment room is therefore viewed as an improvment and problem solving tool that encourages all employees to follow this process to ensure the continued improvement of the site's products and processes with the aim to expand and grow the business and to exceed our customers needs.

 Continuous Improvement

To maintain high levels of creativity and innovation, a company needs a framework for empowering its people. Our Ketlon Action Teams (KATs) are just such a program. Any individual can bring together a group of the most relevant people and form a problem solving Team to make improvements at the sharpest end of the business. Any cost savings for the business are reduced by 10% and that is given to the Kat team.

 Going that extra mile

Employees who carry out more than their normal duties can be nominated by other employees or their Manager to receive an Ketlon Extra Mile Award (KEMA) and are given vouchers to spend on an activity or experience of their choice.

 Training & Development

We strongly believe in multi-skilling people where we can and training is provided both on -the-job and off-the-job. We also run an Apprenticeship scheme which can be in any area of Manufacturing Engineering. Out current Apprenticeships are in Engineering and Quality.

 Example of KEMA's

An employee volunteered to work late into this evening for no payment to help out a colleague in another department. This meant that a very important deadline could be met. A Team Member came up with an idea to improve a fixture on one of the machines. He was on nightshift and worked late in the morning. He left with the fixture being built in Toolroom but got his wife to ring up whilst he was asleep to check the progress.

 The Spirit of Ketlon

At Ketlon we believe that our employees are our greatest asset and we strive to create a community of employee stakeholders who are committed to the company, the customer, quality and continuous improvement.

These efforts are rewarded with competitive salary packages, a bonus scheme, good training & development opportunities and rewarding employees for their commitment to Ketlon.

 Communication

Communicatin is essential within Ketlon and is recognised by the Ketlon management team. To help support this, there are various tools in place for both employees and management to ensure two way communication is maintained. These methods are the measurement room, monthly news letter, employee forum committee, weekly team talks, employee notice boards and day to day communication between colleagues.

 Employee of the Year

Ketlon recognises the contribution made towards it's objectives by an Employee Of The Year Award. This is given to an employee that, in the view of their colleagues, has contributed significantly towards the success of the business.

 Examples of KAT's

A KAT was set up on our Ford line whereby time was being wasted when one machine was required. A fixture was made for another machine on the line which meant both machines could be used for the induction hardening process. This resulted in a saving of time, manpower and overtime. This saved Ketlon £4329 which gave a payment to each team member of £216 each. A KAT was setup on our Ford line to reduce tooling usage on two machines. Trials were done and carried out and the total saving to Ketlon was £28,535 which gave a payment to each team member of £951 each.
